Getting businesses to advertise on your podcast, either at the beginning or end, or both, is a great way to create a revenue through podcasts. Most businesses won’t be keen to advertise on your podcast until you can prove a large number of listeners. Therefore, it is unlikely you will be able to start out from the get-go with sponsors. But once you accumulate regular listeners, or a high number of downloads from iTunes, you can start to sell advertising space on your podcasts.
Hi! Meagan. Found your most colorful and helpful website and blog while “pinning” from pinterest. Always love to discover new sites from and for us women. Very helpful and educational. Subcribed to your site. I just recently started blogging myself. Since I am a “newbie” at all this stuff I still have plenty to learn. I most recently formed my own home business doing something I am told I am good at and I have a passion for which is creating slideshows for people to capture every occasion and event in their lives. I sync them to music of their choice and have already started bringing in a modest income from my area of where I live but am ready to take it to the worldwide web. I already have a facebook page set up with samples of my work. I would welcome your advice on my blog. It isn’t even a week old, it is createamomentslideshows.wordpress.com please take a look at it. It is a blank page except for my business name and slogan and I have a video advertising it, that I created myself. Thank you very much. Sincerely Julie at createamomentslideshows & children’s storybook DVDs. P.S. I also create children’s storybook DVDs from your child’s photos and formulate a short story around their interest, likes , or personality.
Love it, right? I mean, survey sites won’t get you rich. But they earn me a really nice extra side income for “fun money.” And when I didn’t have a job at all, it was definitely money that was needed!! I’m working on a follow up post to this, since over the past two months I’ve been researching new ways to hustle some side income, and have LOTS more tips to share!
Another option is to seek out companies that offer you to work from a home office. It’s becoming much more common now as businesses are learning that it saves them a lot of money. Employees take less sick days and are typically more productive. I know of people who take phone orders for pizza delivery places, technical support centers, etc. I work for an online website in their customer support dept and my office is the desk 4 feet from my bed! lol I get a salary, medical benefits, vacation and all the other perks of a job, but I am home all day. They can be tough to find but you have to be proactive and ask around. Keep an eye on the careers section of companies you’d like to work for as they will post these opportunities just like any other job with their company. :)
Selling graphic T-shirts is big business. Customized T-shirts with clever sayings or graphics are ideal for online sales. Sites like Teespring allow you to sell customer shirts. Teespring’s unique model allows you to design the shirt and get buyers lined up to purchase it. This saves you from the initial investment in stock and the time on processing and shipping orders, though you’ll likely make a smaller profit on each shirt sold.
Rather than making money through subscriptions, YouTube channels are based on a traditional advertising system. Meaning the more viewers you get, the more you make. Once you’re approved for the YouTube Partner Program and can start including ads on your videos, with every 1,000 views, you will make approximately $2-$4. Which might not seem like a lot, but if you have 100 videos with 5,000 views a month each, that would be $1,000–$2,000 already. Just imagine if your videos start hitting millions of views!
8. Virtual Assistants: Read this great article from ABC News on how to find legit companies to work with on this. I’ve done call center type work in the past, and this is something that I’ve considered doing. A great way for a full-time income from home, just be really wary of scams. There are tons of legit sites, and I know a few bloggers that hire this type of help, just be really careful, since there are some bad guys out there. For a really amazing – and more comprehensive! – list of resources and tips, see this awesome article: How to Become a Virtual Assistant. This gal has worked as a blogger, VA, freelance writer, and so much more. She totally knows her stuff.
If you are a creative type, then you could make money online by designing and selling crafty products on Etsy. Etsy sells a range of beautiful and original items from independent suppliers. Categories range from jewelry, clothes, and accessories, to art, collectibles, and vintage. So if you have some stunning crafty creations, Etsy is the perfect platform from which to sell from.
However, not matter what method you choose to make money online, understand that you might be able to make some money fast, but for the sizable returns, you'll need significant sweat equity. However, a year from now, you'll be happy you started today. Remember, time is far more valuable than money. Focus on creating passive income streams that will free up your time so that you can quit the rat race and focus on the things that matter. That's the important thing here.
First off, I’m a blogger so it seems wrong not to mention it, but more importantly, it’s a legitimate way to make money. It’s quite possibly the least straight-forward way on this list, but it’s very doable and it’s also quite possibly the funnest way on this list. I love blogging and I know hundreds of bloggers who feel the same. So let’s talk about making money blogging and what it really means.
You can generate a small side income taking online surveys — but don’t expect to be rolling in the dough. Survey sites don’t typically offer a big payoff, unless you invest a lot of time, and many sites are more useful for earning gift cards than cash. Some of the more popular survey sites include Swagbucks and Global Test Market. Read our analysis of a dozen survey sites to find out which one is best suited for you.
Once you’ve had children, many parents find themselves caught in the trap of needing to work but wanting to stay home with their kids. Creating your own parenting blog can not only be a way to make some money, it can also help you connect with other parents and make sense of those crazy sleepless early parenting years (it does get easier don’t worry!)
If you have a propensity for writing and you can slay with your prose, consider writing an ebook. While the market has certainly become saturated as of late, books that help teach people about a technical topic still sell extremely well. This is a great source of passive income but does require a large amount of effort at the outset before any money is generated.
There are many sellers out there who’ve made a business reselling thrift store finds online. This kind of buying and selling takes a lot of time and dedication, but if you have an excellent eye for value and a love for thrifting, it can be a very lucrative business. (But expect a lot of trips to the post office and a lot of time spent researching.)
If you live in an area where Uber or Lyft operate, why not become a driver? If you're looking to make some short-term cash, you can definitely rake it in by working for one of these popular car-hire apps. As long as your vehicle fits within the specifications of their program, and you have a clean license, you could do this on the side, especially if you're in a crunch for cash.
Milton Friedman once said that “there is no such thing as a free lunch,” and this is absolutely true! Working from home is convenient and it can be really fun, but at the end of the day, it is still WORK, and it will require you to work at it! That said, for those who are willing to buckle down, the possibilities really are endless, and the sky is the limit!
Many big businesses are looking for social media influencers to become long-term ambassadors for their brand. This would involve you working closely with one particular band, and promoting their clothes, products, and services. You may also be restricted from promoting other brands, so check out the small print before agreeing to any long-term agreements.
